August 2019

Caleb's cookie business is still going well.  He know has 4 financial planners using him to send cookies to their clients!
"Quality control":

Taking the cookies down to the mailbox...

He was tired of holding his phone, so he hooked up a "phone holder" 😂

Abby is sad because I just told her we could not buy a pet kangaroo...

Den and Machelle and kids (minus Lydia) came to visit!  Their first day here, they took us to the Mexican grocery store in town and we ordered some REAL Mexican food from the deli.  That place is like 5 minutes from our house and we've never been there before, but we will definitely go back!  Here is a picture of our brief walk around Glencairn Gardens.  (It was windy and threatening to rain the whole time, but it wasn't oppressively hot like usual!)

Machelle and I took Natalie and Jenna and my kids to the pool in Baxter for an afternoon. Abby was actually able to pass the initial swim test (and get the "yellow" band) so she could go down two of the slides!  She was so excited!  I had no idea she could actually swim far enough to pass!

Ben and Micah leading some songs at House of Agape...

Playing Taboo with the Benders...

Brooke was Abby's helper. :)

We went to JAARS with Dennis and Machelle.  They almost didn't get to see the Mexico museum because it was closed, but someone opened it just for them.

Real progress!  By the end of the week they were here, Abby actually sat on the same couch as Dennis!

Helen's birthday... presents and watching "End Game" with the Ziebers/Kaufmans.  (Wes and Joyce came down for a quick visit right when Den and Machelle left.)

House church at Luis and Lisa Shank's house.  It was a good morning!

More "golf lessons" with Dad. :)

Micah has been practicing drawing parts of the world, so Abby joined him.

I found Bobbes like this one morning.  He's evidently being interrogated for a crime he committed:

Babysitting Isaac.  The Buchers are back from Kansas and decided to move into a home in Greer that was offered to them for free for up to about 5 years.  So sad to see them go, but at least it's only an hour and 45 minutes away instead of all the way to Kansas!

Micah started his first day of Challenge A a week before Foundations and Essentials started.  (August 21.)  We had Foundations and Essentials orientation on the same day.

All the Challenge kids!  This year we have Challenge A (~7th grade) up through Challenge 2 (~10th grade.)

Micah's class. (10 boys, 2 girls.)  Ms. Carole is wonderful!

Orientation for Caleb's Essentials class (for 4th through 6th graders.)

So sad... the Bucher's last evening before they move.  The adults all went out to dinner, then we came back to the Ziebers to all hug goodbye.

The almost 13-year olds.  (Except Helen, who just turned 13.)  Actually, Maddox is the youngest since he doesn't turn 13 until February.  Definitely the tallest though!

Speaking of "tallest"... Caleb Ganson and Caleb Thompson.  Caleb Thompson is 5 years older than my Caleb, but he has a whole lot of tall genetics too!

Sunday morning corporate gathering at Bethel.  We shared in a meal afterward with the homeless men who stay in this shelter overnight...

Her dreams for the future have upgraded from wanting to be an "elephant" two years ago!

Caleb's have also improved from wanting to be a "wild man" last year!

Caleb's first day of staying for the afternoon Essentials class...

Hanging out at Fountain Park on a nice evening...

And Caleb is crocheting. 😂

The progression of "Abby looks" as she watches some kids play soccer...

Such a normal Saturday morning... electronics and jammies. :)

Karl had to come back to Rock Hill to get some tools.. and then somehow ended up napping at our house while his van got new brake pads.

Playing around with our friends, the Garsts...

Micah trying out Julie's hammer dulcimer:

Kenton got his "permanent" leg!

We also hosted the annual "Fantasy Football Draft Party" at our house the end of August, but I didn't get any pictures of that.
