We re-arranged the set-up at church and moved breakfast into the kitchen. We're filling up more and more... and are literally about half kids! (I know one week, we had something like 48 kids, and I'm guessing about the same number of adults, maybe a little more.)
One day after church, Ben wanted to take the boys to a Winthrop eagles basketball game, so Abby and I went on a date. Abby wanted to go to Cici's pizza, and the lady who was checking us in thought Abby was so cute that she gave us both free meals. :)
I had to stop in McDonald's one night to see if they would donate some of their big straight straws for a science experiment at CC... it sounded like a good excuse for some ice cream.
Last game of the season: Up to this point, Caleb had not actually made any shots. The last game, the Jettes, the Ziebers, and Wes and Joyce all came to see him. As Caleb dribbled down the court, he looked over and waved to his adoring fans. He tried several times to make a shot but couldn't quite get it. At the very end of the game, he FINALLY made one in, and the fans went wild! :) Caleb was on cloud 9.
One of the Moms at CC arranged a tour of Olive Garden. It wasn't overly impressive, but the kids liked the hair nets. :)
And they fed us spaghetti. Which seemed like a nice idea... except that it was at 10 AM. And afterwards, we were all like, "Uggg, why did we just eat spaghetti at 10 AM??"
Micah finished up his basketball season too...
Strategizing with "Coach"...
What Caleb and Abby do during games. This time, these two little boys wanted to watch too. The littlest one kept trying to give Abby a kiss. I eventually had to move her. :)
The last 4 weeks of CC are "Spring Fever days" with different themes. This was pajama day. I ensured Micah that everyone would be wearing pajamas (including me), and that we weren't going anywhere afterward. Once I got to CC, I found out that the director was meeting with somebody at the library afterward for an informational meeting and wanted me to come along too since I had just gotten contracted to be the director for the next year. So, much to Micah's dismay, we hung out at the library in our pajamas after CC that day. :)
Superhero day... Micah was pretending to be grumpy like Batman...
On March 11, Kenton and Holly and kids stopped in on their way back from Florida and spent the night and went to church with us the next morning. Unfortunately, that was also the night that the time changed so we lost an hour of sleep AND IT SNOWED that night!!!!! We didn't have any snow ALL winter, and then we got a dusting with a little ice in MARCH after all my azaleas and crocuses and some tulips were blooming. I was so sad it killed off all the pretty azaleas especially. (And the pretty purple buds on the tree in the picture above.)
Micah did awesome with his "Faces of History" paper. He had to choose a person from the time period we studied this year (Middle Ages) and research a write a short paper on him. Micah chose Leif Ericson, and did a great job. He especially liked dressing up and looking sharp. :)
Testing our straw bridges at CC...
One of or friends hosted a painting night because she wanted to do a wall of "ocean pictures." It was so fun! I did the dolphin. My favorite was the wave Lindsey did in the bottom right corner.
Abby liked the feel of Ben's hair after he washed it. "So soft!"
Caleb tends to sing in the shower...
Other news from March: I started going to a 6-week women's Bible study that Carrie Zieber led at the Y... it was really good for some church ladies to hang out and talk about Jesus! Ben also passed his "insurance test" so he can now sell Health and Disability Insurance. And I was hired to be the Foundations/Essentials Director for CC next year. Which means lots of work already to get "up-to-date" on what I need to know and do! I think my summers will be a good bit busier to prepare, but the school year should not be too bad with prep work.
