10-7-14

Caleb's first soccer game.  They line all the kids up for the first half-an-hour to learn skills.  Caleb is the third one from the end here... definitely the shortest.  (We actually measured him on his birthday... he's measuring in a full inch shorter than Micah was at that age.  Poor kid!)

During his second soccer game, Caleb played goalie for a while... and that ended Ben's "undefeated coach" status. :)  Micah's team is still undefeated this season... and was undefeated last season too.  Micah scored a goal at his game last Thursday.
 Caleb's birthday:

Lately, Abby doesn't usually want her picture taken.  However, on Caleb's birthday it was next-to-impossible to get a picture of JUST Caleb.  She kept trying to weasel in.

Aunt Darlene - he loves the Ninja Turtle shirt and Legos!

Wes and Joyce - the Transformer book has been put to good use too!

We got him this Batman jacket.  He wore it to homeschool co-op today and wouldn't take it off, even when we played outside in the sun at recess.  It was like 80 degrees.  He was rather sweaty. :)

The day after Caleb's birthday, we finally got to visit Myrtle Beach.  We got in around 9 Wednesday evening.  Thursday morning was warm and sunny, so we hit the beach.  There was some light rain off-and-on in the afternoon, so we made use of the hotels indoor pools/hot tubs/kids' splash pad/lazy river.  We all had SO MUCH fun!  Thursday was cooler, so we went to the aquarium to see the sharks.  (And yes, I recorded that as a day of school!)  Micah especially liked it, although I personally think it was a little too expensive for what you get!  We went back to play in the sand in the afternoon for about an hour, then headed home.

Abby in heaven (she just kept saying "Awww!"):

I'm putting these on Abby's Christmas list.  She loves little creatures.  She carries around two miniature teddy bears in her pockets.

We closed on the house the Monday after we got back from the beach.  I'll have to take pictures of the inside.  We got the power and gas turned on, the trash lined up, and the carpets cleaned.  The carpet's not perfect, but good enough for us to keep!  yay!  Wednesday we started painting, and tackled the hardest two rooms first.  (Abbys' room was BRIGHT red.  It took two coats of primer and then 2 coats of light yellow, plus a few more touch ups.)  And then we painted the "Florida room" trim all white and the walls a bluish-grey.  Also got one bathroom painted, and a wall in the living room.  Our small group is doing a painting party tomorrow night and helping to put down floors in the Florida room and bathrooms.  I'm hoping we can get all the painting done by the end of the weekend.  Of course, we're also having a work day at the YMCA on Saturday to get ready for our first church service the following weekend!

October is crazy... fixing and moving into a house, trying to do our first "preview" service for the church (although I don't know how many people we'll actually tell about it. :)  We need to work out the kinks first!)  And soccer every Tuesday, Thursday night and Saturday morning.  Is it November yet?? :P
