This week: We took a "field trip" Thursday to Imaginon in Charlotte, one of the coolest kids' libraries ever.  They had a big hands-on exhibit of Fairy Tales from around the world.  I could have stayed there all day, but my non-school-loving children were only interested in the apps on the Ipads they had sitting around.... not so much cozying up in the corner to pour over books :(  So we walked the few blocks to Discovery Place and hung out there the rest of the afternoon.

Thursday night was Micah/Ben's first soccer practice for the fall season.  We've got 14 kids on the team, only 3 of which (including Micah) were from the team in the spring.  So lots of new people to meet!  Micah's pretty pumped about it.  Caleb is counting down until his first practice in 2 weeks.

There are an abundance of caterpillars roaming around our parking lot right now.  The kids found one on our welcome mat when we came home from storytime the other day.  So we put it in a jar and looked up what kind of leaves they like to eat.  The kids were arguing over what to name it.  Caleb wanted to name it "Caterpilly".  Micah wanted to name it "Chubby" because it was pretty fat.  I asked Abby what we should name it.  She said "Four."  I said, "No, not how old is it."  She said, "Blue", and I said, "No, not what's it's favorite color.  What do you want to name it?"  Finally she said "Stella!"  (That's the name of her friend we met at storytime earlier that day.)  Since no one could agree, Micah told me to pick a name.  I said, "How about George?"  Micah winced and said, "Mom, that is so 80's."  (I have no idea how he knows what would be "80s".)
End of story: we put three more caterpillars in the jar.  Not that we can tell them apart, but at least there's no more fighting over names.  I'm also not positive that they are all still alive in there.

Abby's latest thing is asking everyone what their favorite color is.  She says "What favorite color you?"   And no one is allowed to say the same color as someone else.  She will assign colors if necessary.

Still no word on the house.  The bidding period is supposed to end today, so I suppose we'll hear on Monday if we got it or not.  We did up the bid just a little because our realtor discovered the "bottom line" number HUD needed to get for the house, so we met that almost to the dollar.
